It’s Not Always Obvious
Acrylic, aerosol and graphite on canvas
147 x 147cm
2023

It’s Not Always Obvious which direction to take with a painting and sometimes it takes a direction of its own. Same goes for life. So many choices to make. With everything. Every day. It can be hard for many, but not many share this. The beauty lies in the fact that these choices shape our unique stories.

Every choice we make, big or small, may come with a mix of excitement and uncertainty. Feeling overwhelmed. Fearing that you could be making the ‘wrong’ choice. Trust your instincts. 💪 Mine have kept me in good stead over the years. Embrace the uncertainty and use it as an opportunity for growth. Add colour to your life canvas and enjoy the beauty of the ride. ✨

With All Good Intentions
Acrylic, aerosol and graphite on canvas
147 x 147cm
2023

I had All Good Intentions with this painting… to create what I had visualised and planned. But part way through the process, the painting evolved into something else. And I’m okay with that. I have good intentions, to be the best me that I can. Be mindful of my interactions with others. Maybe share a smile, a quick hello with a stranger. Extending the ‘good intentions’ principle to being a self-employed artist often strays off track. I may have good intentions of completing a concept which has a deadline looming. But inspiration ebbs and flows. Conceptualising might be replaced with a bike ride and that’s okay. I’ve learned to roll with the distractions, be adaptable. Be agile and adjust on the fly when unexpected interruptions change the course of the day. Embracing the lack of routine and sometimes chaotic creative process is what keeps things interesting! 🤩

Right Place Right Time
Acrylic, aerosol, graphite and ink on canvas
147 x 147cm
2023

Painting is an escape from a world which often feels chaotic, everything hurtling along at dangerous speed. Sometimes the cosmos conspires favourably and says ‘You’re exactly where you should be’. It’s an invitation to embrace and relish the extraordinary in the everyday.

Pondering those moments in time where the rhythm of life falls into sync and everything somehow just comes together. The planets align, all your ducks are in a row, you woke up on the right side of the bed and your timing is perfect. ✨

This Is The Idea
Acrylic, aerosol, graphite and ink on canvas
147 x 147cm
2023

It’s hard to pick a favourite from my latest collection. But I keep coming back to ‘This Is the Idea’. The simplicity of the black and yellow colour palette creates a dynamic interplay, hinting at the complexities in the layers, creating contrast. The vibrant yellow symbolises the birth of an idea, radiating positivity and the promise of a bright tomorrow. The ‘This is the Idea’ series explores the fluid nature of thought, not confined by boundaries or constraints. Painting freely ‘for me’ in my studio I embrace the uninhibited joy of exploration and discovery. I invite you to join me in finding the freedom to roam wherever your imagination may lead! 💡☀️

Fortune Favours the Bold
Acrylic, aerosol, graphite and ink on canvas
147 x 147cm
2023

The high intensity, high contrast ‘Fortune Favours the Bold’ emulates fearless determination. The black background exudes strength and the allure of the unknown. The POP of the bouncing fluoro yellow line embodies the energy I poured into the painting. I was exploring the idea of forging your own path, challenging the way things are, seizing life’s opportunities. It can be rewarding to occasionally step out of your comfort zone, take risks and embrace challenges. Seize the day, be bold (not reckless) and make your own fortune! 🙌🏻

Not Everything Needs a Title
Acrylic, aerosol and graphite on canvas
147 x 147cm
2023

‘Not Everything Needs a Title’ [SOLD] is a liberation from the constraints of convention, particularly the insistence on naming and categorising every artwork… song… all aspects of life. For me, the process in creating the work is as important as the painting itself. And for the viewer, I’d rather meaning is found in the experience rather than in an explanation. The scratchy mark making captures a sense of restlessness, the black spray paint acts in defiance against structures and expectations. Pops of fluorescent pink appear like sudden bursts of inspiration in the midst of chaos. The beauty of life often lies in its ambiguity and the unknown. 💥
